We’ve Come a Long Way, Tips and CoSolo Membership Trial 🎸

It is hard to believe that the 2010’s are over, and we will soon enter a new decade. I can’t even begin to count the number of “Vision 2020” projects we created for our clients. That timestamp made 2020 seem like a faraway future world, one where all of our challenges would go away and only amazing opportunity awaits. I’m not sure if every one of those challenges went away for our clients, but I do know an amazing opportunity awaits for us all this coming decade.  A lot went down in 2019, including the birth of our CoSolo community. Last year, CoSolo was just an idea. We wanted to do something to help out the independent consultants of the world, but we couldn’t quite figure out what that thing was. Since then, we have been able to:

  • form over 15 CoSolo teams

  • conduct over 300 peer coaching and accountability team meetings where we gave and received countless tips and feedback on how to accelerate our businesses

  • host 10 live expert webinars led by consulting gurus

  • facilitate more than 400 hours worth of productivity work sessions (super focus hours)

  • compile over 100 tools and resources recommended by CoSolo members

  • collate over 50 helpful templates for consultants such as client contracts and proposals

  • ...and help conduct thousands of conversations among members on Slack and elsewhere

We are so grateful to everyone who helped in creating this community: those who helped us in our initial market research, experts who came to share their wisdom with us, everyone on this newsletter who continue to engage with our community, and finally our members. First, big thanks to the pioneer members who decided to take a chance with us when we had nothing. Second, thank you to those who decided to join our young community over the past few months. You all helped stabilize our community and make it more valuable for one another. Building a consulting business is so much more fun when done with others and we hope to continue doing this together forever (or something close to that).

Helpful Tips from the Community

In our members-only Slack community, our members engage regularly to discuss and share knowledge. Ideas, tools, resources, and the like are circulated on an ongoing basis. Below are just 3 of the many interesting items shared over the past few weeks. Hopefully, they are as helpful to you as they have been for our members.

🎥 Video Editing Tool: A handful of members highly recommend Camtasia. It’s easy to use and includes a library of music, the ability to add text, tools for making intros and outros, etc. You don’t need any background in video editing to be able to use Camtasia effectively. There’s also a free trial available so that you can try it out before purchasing a license.

✏️ Mileage Trackers: The Quickbooks Self-Employed mobile app is great and does not require you to use Quickbooks as it is independent from Quickbooks accounting software. The basic subscription is only $4/mo. Additionally, here’s 6 other mileage tracking apps, all of which are free.

💰 Loans: The U.S. Small Business Administration has this great program that helps you find lenders that offer loans for your business. The “Lender Match” operates based on you and your business’ specific needs.

We have one more month of summer, and school is about to start again with a lot of question marks on how they would re-open. Well, CoSolo's new term is also starting in one month, and we know exactly

As we close out the first half of the year, you may be breathing a sigh of relief. What a past six months it’s been. And like us, you may have joked, “Can we just skip ahead to 2021?” The good news? W
